An inter-regional meeting on elections |

 The inter-regional meeting on “elections legislation and holding of elections” has been held in Grozny since July 15. This meeting was organized by the Chechen Republic Election Committee for chairmen of different districts’ election committees and leaders of political parties. Among those present at the meeting were E.V.Shabarshina, chairman of the Komi Republic Election Committee,G.S.Shaikhhulin, chairman of the Volgograd Election Committee, M.T. Dibirov, chairman of the Dagestan Republic Election Committee, and I.B. Baikhanov, chairman of the Chechen Republic Election Committee.
The chairmen of the above-mentioned election committees made their summary reports and actively discussed elections at the meeting.
I.B. Baikhanov, chairman of the Chechen Republic Election Committee, opened the meeting and noted that the elections had their particular features in each Russian region in spite of the general legal base.
Participants of the meeting expressed an interest in the report of M.T. Dibirov and E.V.Shabarshina. Besides it, they discussed those corrections that had been made in the Elections legislation. A number of the political parties’ leaders in Chechnya took an active part in this discussion. They were: Imran Bazhaev (“Edinaya Russia” PP), Isa Khazhmuradov (“Spravedlivaya Russia” PP), Adlan Shamsadov (“LDPR), Magomed Akhmadov (KPRF) and Kuraish Ibragimov (Yabloko”).
I.B. Baikhanov expressed a general opinion of the meeting’s organizers and participants that such discussions of important political questions would improve the elections system and develop democracy in Russia.
A grand dinner was held for dear quests at the end of the meeting.
