 The whole Chechen Republic was surprised by Litva’s Interior Ministry’s unexpected reaction to the decision on playing a friendly match between second Russian football teams in Grozny.
“Truly speaking, I was surprised by unexpected reaction of representatives of Litva’s Interior Ministry. I think it is an open effort to politicize the sport. This is the only explanation in this situation,”- the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov said to the journalists in Grozny. As Kadyrov said “people forgot about that time when politicians made sportsmen boycott a number of Olympiads and refuse to take part in different competitions and championships because of sports event location. “Politicians must improve cultural, scientific, youth, business relations between neighboring countries but not create ‘dead’ problems on this way,”- Ramzan Kadyrov noted. “Vilnius hasn’t true information about current situation in the Chechen Republic and all positive changes taking place in it every day. The whole Chechen Republic and Grozny are open for everybody. Hundreds and thousands of foreigners are staying and arriving in Chechnya everyday and nobody creates problems for them,”- R.Kadyrov emphasized. Moreover, Kadyrov is sure that “Litva’s football players will have happy memories of Grozny which is always ready to warmly welcome each sportsman”.
